The collective agreement - our most important tool

A collective agreement is an agreement between an employer and an employee or their representatives (trade unions and employers' associations).

Fellesoverenskomsten for byggfag is a collective agreement that we, the construction workers, are working on. This agreement governs remuneration and other working conditions, such as travel and accommodation regulations, overtime pay, length of the working week, holiday pay, employee rental rules and contractual pensions (AFP).

Companies with a collective agreement

Help stop illegal hiring of workers

Previously, construction workers were employed in the company on a permanent basis. Today, their role is taken over by employment agencies with temporary employment. The new legislative changes that came into force on January 1, 2019 are an important tool to stop illegal rentals, but they must be monitored by union representatives on construction sites.

To make the rental legal…

the company must have a collective agreement.
the company must negotiate with the union rep. whether the rental is necessary and desirable.
union rep. must agree to the lease.
the contract must be limited in time to actual production peaks.
